William Anzalone

William Anzalone (b. 1935) is an American painter whose career spans over six decades, marked by his arresting use of light and movement in landscape compositions. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he studied architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, earning both a B.A. and M.A., and further honed his artistic skills at Pratt Institute and the Museum School in Boston. In 1959, he relocated to Houston, Texas, where he became a professor at the University of Houston and developed a long-standing association with Meredith Long & Company Gallery, a relationship that lasted 60 years.

Anzalone's paintings, often influenced by his architectural background, often balance structural elements with expressive color and dynamic mark-making. His works have been exhibited widely, including at Foltz Fine Art, Art Center Waco, and Nancy Littlejohn Fine Art Gallery. Now based in Round Top, Texas, Anzalone continues to paint, drawing inspiration from his surroundings and personal history. His work has appeared in major exhibitions and auctions, with pieces collected by institutions and private collectors alike. William Anzalone’s work is currently exhibited by the Red & White Gallery in Fayetteville, Texas.
